Redwood Hardtail Strat Build

Found a 2 1/4 pound redwood hardtaiil/softwood strat body- I went with Cordovan dye with some black and mahogany red. It lit up (through dye exclusion) grain lines I could barely see before. This earlywood/latewood effect should have been expected, but I was ignorant and couldn't see these pimp/pin stripes coming.

Now I will try to work with it and make it a cool and fun guitar, as it is what it is.

Plan to go with a Humbucker in the bridge, a staple top P90 or regular P90 in the neck, and a dummy coil in the middle.  Not sure on the neck yet. Ordered a purpleheart pickguard from Van Dyke Harms on Etsy - we'll see how that goes.

I'm following this one. It's a Zootcaster. :icon_thumright:

Got the purpleheart pickguard, but it does not go....
So I am adjusting it to make it work because it is a  high quality guard that should not go to waste.
The purpleheart is heavy too, and this body can stand to put on a few pounds...

Guess I'm not seeing why the purpleheart PG is a no go? Other than the pickup config not matching, looks like it should fit to me... :icon_scratch:

You'd just have to reroute the pickup cavities. :dontknow:
