Recorded a soft solo (non-metal!)

I usually play metal and stuff but I decided to record something different from my usual

Using my favorite Warmoth of course! Right now I have Dimarzio Evo in the bridge position, and will probably carve a new pickguard for a HSS setup soon.

I recently raised the action a bit and put on thinner strings, I thought it was a good decision, the guitar sings better now when the high E isn't below 1mm at 12th fret  :toothy12: I used to have 0.7mm at 12th fret but I realized I was choking the tone.  :toothy12:

Thanks!  :icon_biggrin:

Love the tone!  You have a nice style of pick attack.

I do subtle pinch harmonics almost all the time, sometimes it's barely audiable, I think thats where my "tone" comes from.

Reminds me of 1986/7 era Maiden tone - there's a clean edge to the tone that I really like.  I used to have a Mesa Silhouette Deuce II that would do that a bit.  Miss that amp every day!

Hehe, Maiden back in that period used Gallien Kruegers:

I'm currently producing an album for a band called Starblind who wants a very Somewhere In Time-ish sound; yes they sound a lot like Maiden writing-wise too so I guess it's just fitting... And they use Gallien Krueger amps for this upcoming album  :icon_biggrin:

Here's a song from their previous album... The new album will sound better! They have a new vocalist too. I like Mikey Steels vocals but he was a bit over the top for their sound, the new singer is a little more laidback, haha

One of the guitarists in Starblind is a Warmoth partscaster fan as well by the way  :toothy10:

Nice work but I'd not call it anything close to a "soft solo."

Well I'm used to playing stuff like this  :laughing11:

Thats another Warmoth by the way  :headbang1:

It's disassembled at the moment, since I wanna put the neck on a hardtail (non-Warmoth) strat body. That will be an ongoing project for a while.

I will of course keep the body and get a new Warmoth neck for it eventually! I was thinking maybe a Arcade neck for a bit of a old school Charvel Model 3/Kramer feeling  :toothy12:
