Recessed Wilkinson Routing Question

Hi everyone!

So I finished my very first Warmoth build a couple of months ago, and it's been an awesome experience! However, I did always think the bridge routing looked a bit weird. While I was browsing the forums today, I saw some pictures of some other guitars with the same routing and it looks very different! My bridge does not cover the recessed rout whereas the bridge completely covered the routing on other people's guitar!

Any thoughts into this? :S Did I mess something up? Or did Warmoth make a mistake! Or is this some kind of new routing? :S

A recessed route needs to be bigger than the bridge so it can fit in there. If the route was covered it most likely wasn't a recessed route.  I would probably raise that bridge a little and lower the saddles. Shim that neck forward a bit too.

Yeah, the action on those saddles is ridiculous. Get them lowered down.

The action of the strings at the 24th fret is approx 1.5mm to 2mm (high e to low E), so the playability of the guitar is fine to me.

The height of the saddles is a tip I picked off from John Suhr while reading at the Suhr forums. Lowering the base plate and increasing the individual saddle heights allows the strings to have a more slightly slinkily feel as well as increasing term tuning stability due to the angle the strings make the saddles.

Thank you for the comments on the action, however this is not my concern at the moment. My question is about the wilkinson recessed routing. This is the thread I was looking at before. Looks like maybe Warmoth did change the routing sometime within the last year? :S

(some other pic's back one post)
You can adjust the stud height.
Then your saddles won't be so high.
