recessed trem cover route

Leave the trem cover off entirely. It looks much better that way IMO.

I thought there was a discussion about this a while back. Something about a certain company trademarking reccessed covers or something.

You are right.  I brought this up before.  Someone said they thought it might have been trademarked by Ibanez, which is NOT true.

You may like it with the trem cover off entirely, I like trem covers.  I especially like them recessed, like my Ibby, and my Jackson.  :icon_biggrin:

depending on the type of trem and it's height, their isn't always enough room for a recessed trem cover. I have a feeling that 720 mod + recessed trem cover = the need for extremely high action in order to install the cover in the first place, or no cover at all.

Recessed trem will hit a recessed cover. I would expect the reason why it's not offered at all is so people can't mess up and get the wrong option.

Makes sense but they could offer it on thicker bodies like carved VIPs and LPs...

Of course I'm a hardtail player so maybe I should just find another thread.  :D

That usually doesn't happen, most times they are pretty sharp about what will not work together. Not that it's not entirely impossible to happen..

Personally I don't care for the cover... :icon_biggrin:

Hmmm, my Jackson SL2H has a recessed trem and a recessed cover.  The way to make this work is a 32mm trem block.

so this might be the dumbest question i've asked on this forum, but i have no clue so... what do you mean a recessed trem cover route? unless you mean recessing into the body like the control cavity, in which case i feel dumb for asking but still glad i did  :icon_biggrin:

thank you! i would love to see that too, seems weird that not many companies do it when it's pretty much mandatory with control cavities...

i personally refuse to leave the cover off, so i would definitely love to see it

here's my late 80's MIJ Fender strat with recessed back cover.

Khaler made Fender locking trem. the rout is about 1 1/4" deep and there is about 7/32" between the end of the block and the back cover.

It's a mid 80s contemporary '22 and the trem was a system I made by Schaller.
the later japanese superstrats had kahler stamped trems ;) the schaller ones are stamped fender...

ok, I just pulled out my 2 contemporary strats, and a late 80s korean HM squier, and they all have recessed trem cover routes.

you're probably right, Marko

I bought this about 89. I couldnt resist, it was only $200 and looked brand new. I knew nothing about strats when I bought it, only that I wanted one.

It would be cool if W could do a recessed trem rut like this.
