Because it's not the way fender does it....that is my guess

I'm not buying that.  Warmoth does plenty of stuff that Fender doesn't do.

ok, I just pulled out my 2 contemporary strats, and a late 80s korean HM squier, and they all have recessed trem cover routes.

My MIJ early 90s Strat is recessed.  However, I maintain that the foreign made Fenders get an asterisk. They are made under a liscense to Fender specs and are not made by Fender employees in a Fender factory.  The companies that make them have contracts to recreate Fender approved specs, they stick a sticker on the headstock, and Fender ultimately buys them from them.

somebody on another forum i visit mentioned trying a recessed pickguard. i tried my best to talk them into it and will post pictures if they're serious  :icon_biggrin:  i think it woul be very cool. would make one very aerodynamic guitar
