I've never seen this before, and it IS a reissue so please forgive me if we've all been over this before, but:

Yea, 400 of these were originally made in 2007 as guitar of the week.
I know I am kind of wacky, but being a big flying V fan, I sort of like it.
There are many guitars I would buy before this one, but I would not turn one down...
:rock-on:

Wow, thats one of the ugliest guitars I've ever seen, I like Flying Vs but not this...

I saw what at the arlington guitar show last weekend. Didn't look bad in person. I thought it was kinda cool then.

I once saw an upside down stratocaster. now THAT was awkward.

Yea, I don't get that reverse strat either.  There have been a couple on the Warmoth showcase.
Seems to me it would make it harder to reach those high frets.
I have enough problems with my small hands as it is.
Hey, what ever makes ya' happy...  :hello2:

The reverse V isn't that bad really...especially considering this abortion of a guitar...

Yikes, I have not seen the reverse explorer.
This is one of the guitars of the month, as compared to the reverse flying V, which was the guitars of the week.
Seems this is another example of Gibson trying to create a false sense of rarity.
Create a new oddity guitar.  Proclaim it is a rare limited edition; and the masses will swarm to purchase?

I am just not grooving on this one as much.
However, I am diggin' that Moderne type headstock, but they have the tuning machines all set wrong [6 inline vs 3 + 3]

I'm sorry, but that headstock looks exactly like a toy to me.

That's a headstock design I would expect to find on something like this:

No, I mean literally upside down. The bridge was mounted where the neck pickup would be and the neck was routed coming off the bottom where the lower strap button would be.

Hey, like it or not, this is the headstock of the rarest production guitar in the world; the Gibson Moderne...
I do see the similarity.  I guess this proves the point that guitars and music are meant to be fun...  :headbang:

I can't understand the logic that Gibson is displaying by doing these sort of re-jigs of existing models. To me, these models represent a view by those in charge that they wanna see how absurd they can make a guitar look, and find out how many suckers take the bait!

A lot of times these things look horribly awkward to play and downright butt-ugly.

The 'reverse' V is one of these models.

I can appreciate that if you've never seen a proper V before, when you do, it looks strange. Ditto for first impressions on guitars like the Explorer, Moderne and Firebird. But over time you acquire a taste for them and if you play a good V, Firebird or Explorer (never played  a Moderne) you can appreciate some of the refinements made in body design. Although, that said, I never have fathomed why the V is so popular when you can't play it too well sitting down.

I cannot see how ever, you'd get used to the looks of the reverse V!

Waste of good wood, electronics, hardware and labour.

MarkO, Luke, and I saw one of those at the Dallas Guitar Show.  It's not the most ridiculous thing Gibson's ever made.  That would be the Stratocaster they made 50 years after the fact.  In another 50, they'll make a Tele.

Pete Malinoski's look similar - like leper hands.

THE DESPERATE GASP OF A DYING BUSINESS.... like pigtails & plaid skirts on a wrinkly old porn queen. In the past 5 billion years, at least 95% of all species have gone extinct, 95% of all empires collapse, and 95% of all businesses fail. Is there such a thing as "Gibson Exceptionalism?" - NOT.

Yeah, just like that.

If only 400 were seriously made, I guess it might be worth buying and hiding so nobody knows you have one...then bringing it back out once it's actually worth something, but something tells me there's probably still around 395 left!
