For those unfamiliar with Mr. Henderson's work (like me), here's a video of him covering Highway 61. Quite nicely. To me, that's how slide should be played - conservatively and tastefully, rather than as a focal point. Not that there's anything wrong with that... I mean, listen George Thorogood

So, it's a loss. But, he left us some lessons.

That's Kirby Kelly playing slide, and he is monstrous. It's hard to do well. Kelly plays with a brass slide on his little finger and a glass one on his middle finger. Jim Weider's Project Percolator is another one of those "blues/rock" bands that manages to stay interesting:
