Questions about American Standard Tremolo

1. What are the things circled in the picture?
2. How tall do the tremolo studs have to be? There's 1/4" exposed from the top.
 
Bottom left are roller string trees..
the other thing is a mystery part :) looks like a spring
 
I'm going to say that the spring is for the trem arm. It goes in the hole before you screw the bar in.

The items on the left are string retainers. They go on the headstock, i am not sure why they come with the bridge.

The item on the right is a spring that goes into the trem bar hole before the bar goes in. It helps hold the bar in place.
 
That spring is indeed for the Trem bar, it was innovation Fender came up with in the late 80's after they heard Rene Martinez (SRV's Guitar  Tech) stuffed wads of cotton down the trem hole before inserting the bar to prevent over-tightening and damage. The spring does the same thing, AND resists the screw a bit for a better fit.
