poplar's greeness

hey everyone, im thinking something a little crazy. I really want to get that poplar strat body out of the screaming deals section and just clear it and have that be my finish. I think that the green/whitish gray would look damn sweet with a black pickguard. my question is, will clearing it make the green stand out more? or would it not really do anything.

Yeah the green will look super good under clear.  I'd go clear matte on poplar!

I'm not being sarcastic, but 90% of people think the opposite of this ^

I'm eyeballing the same body, but I would definitely try to enhance the grain with a tint.

Poplar is soft and picks up dents easily. If you don't like that you should be prepared to put a pretty hard/stable finish on it.

Personally I think poplar is improved by a nice solid color finish.
