Polyurethane in Tuner and Truss Rod Holes

Hello folks,
I'm going to use wipe on ploy on a maple-rosewood neck. Would appreciate any tips or tricks on how to keep urethane from getting down in the tuner holes and truss rod access hole.

Thanks,

A wipe-on poly should go on so thin that this is unlikely to be a significant issue.

It would probably be easier to not worry about it during applicatono, and then use a pencil wrapped in sandpaper to gently clean up the tuner holes.  If you're laying it on so wet that your truss rod access hole is in danger of being occluded, back off a little.  It's wipe-on, not slather-on.

Thanks Bagman. I apply multiple thin coats when I use the wipe-on. I'm just trying to avoid problems ahead of time. Neck arrives tomorrow, so I'll have my first try at this.

you should not have an issue.  If there is an issue, case the tuner holes with some rolled up sand paper to knock off any edges....

Thanks for the replies. The neck and tuners showed up today and there is no way I could get enough urethane in the hole to cause a problem. I thought they would be fairly tight but they are actually a little loose.

post some picks.

One of t he best necks I have is a Warmoth maple neck I sprayed with minwax satin poly.  I did not buff or anything.  Baby powder smooth.
