I'm not normally a fan of Telecasters, but that's awesome! :icon_biggrin:

John 5
Jim Root.
Johnny Greenwood (Radiohead)

And I'm sure some other people whose names begin with J.

COLD's earlier stuff had a CHEAP tele in the mix...

let me see if I can find a Vid...

Okay, I KNOW Scooter (lead singer) recorded his Part with a Tele. even though its an SG in the vid.

they made the album before the Video. and Scooter didn't buy a better guitar(s) till later.

which is funny, because they Hired Terry Hayes (now in Evanesance ) to play his parts... so he really didn't need to.

still once in awhile, at live shows.... Scooter would whip out a beat to shit Tele and Go at it.

I would suggest if you go the humbucker in the neck position and Tele bridge pickup set up, that you consider the relative low power of the Tele bridge pickup and consider getting an older humbucker style with a PAF type rating on the low side....

According to the SD site, the Quarter pounder "has enough power to compete with humbuckers and hot P-90s." So I should be good on that.

I'm an odd one with Teles. I'm not a fan of the traditional look, but a rear route Tele with binding really has something for me. First one I ever really digged was the gold Schecter tele that Pete Townshend played in the early 80's.

So simple and yet very powerful looking to me. I'd love one (carved top, even better).

thanks DBU..... but for Rock I'd say yours is more along the right path... mine is still a twang-banging machine when needed....

Thanks Rob. The reason I presented yours over mine is because yours still captures that Tele twang with the bridge pup. Mine is more stream lined and purposeful.  :icon_thumright:

But for a straight up rock & roll machine, here's mine.

Has anyone mentioned Bruce Springsteen as a distinguished Telecaster operator?  Well, there, now I have.

I wouldn't mention that out loud too often. Kinda detracts from the thing, since Bruce Springsteen was a guitar player about as much as Elvis Presley was. Luckily, Elvis didn't ruin the image of any particular guitar, or any electrics at all.

Not a huge fan myself, but Springsteen is indeed a good guitar player - see, e.g., "Born to Run."  And his blonde Tele is an iconic guitar, and I daresay that in many eyes apart from yours, the image of the Telecaster is enhanced rather than ruined by the association with Springsteen.  Hence:  Rock Telecaster.

But I do concur that he is more renowned as a singer and songwriter and pop phenomenon than as an axeman.  I do find that in most of the live footage I see of him performing with his electric, the guitar serves more as a prop than as an integral part of the orchestration.

You can't talk about "distinguished tele operators" without mentioning Danny Gatton. The man was everything tele and that's all there is to it. He's dead, you can't beat him, the best you can do is try and copy him. How much more distinguished can you be on the thing if your instructional video is already entitled "teleMaster"?  :laughing3:

Forget about bruce springsteen and his superbowl halftime shows. There's nothing tele about it, sorry. Until you do something heehaw- or should I say YEEHAW :blob7:, you are playing a pickup and a string and generally a guitar but certainly not a tele.
In light of what I have just said, I'd like to add that Uberschall's is very nice nonetheless. :toothy11:

:dontknow: somebody back me up!

@mayfly, love your tele, dig your video. That a b-bender on there?

I cannot believe that there are people who don't think teles can rock. They've made as much great rock as pauls or strats. Cmon, learn your rock, people. There's a band called the Rolling Stones who use them just a bit, I've heard....

The Rolling Stones were rock?  :icon_scratch:

j/k  :laughing7:

A good sounding Tele is one of the most versatile guitars ever made.  :icon_thumright:
