Planet Waves Auto-trim tuners are garbage!

I dont buy sperzels either because I found them to be lacking as well, they have a low gear ratio and yes they actually do slip especially on higher gauge strings, I found they develope slack points after a bit of use

Pardone for the broken record.. but they cannot, do not, and will not slip, at least not in the gearing.  The locking mechanism might not grab the string as it should... that could happen, but the gearing cannot slip.  Slack points... if you tuned UP adequately, you'd not have the issue with any tuners.

Folks get into the habit of detuning just a little when the note is already too sharp, then tuning back up and saying that must be ok.  In fact, you should detune a decent amount, so that when you do tune up, you've eliminated all points of slack.

Just for clarification, when I said my Sperzel tuners slip, I mean the string around the post slips.  They are locking tuners so they are not supposed to.
The gear mechanism does not (and as CB points out cannot) slip.

You guys make me laugh, If they didnt slip I wouldn't say it, I always tune up so that is never the question, guess mine were the only tuners to slip in history, :icon_scratch: thats why guys are saying it all the time...whatever...I guess this is the part where we agree to disagree.  hehehe :laughing7: they were locking so no extra string to worry about, maybe its better if I just said Sperzels suck... :laughing7:

As far as Planet Waves, you mean, what, I actually have to cut my own strings...lol  hilarious, Thanks for saving me that hassel, because golly gee, guitarist have been complaining about that for years...lol

so, yeah, you have to cut your own strings. It's not THAT bad, you know ? ? ?

Yeah guys, one was suggesting it was a big deal... it's only a minor feature that makes string changes a little quicker and neater is all. They weren't particularly expensive when I bought them (and still aren't now, really), have a decent gear ratio, and work very nicely with black headstocks. No one's saying "oh my God, I can't cut strings anymore." No need for all the extra drama here, we're talking about some guitar hardware is all

If they're slipping... and I trust you in that "something"  is slipping... its not the gears.  Mechanical impossibility.  My guess, those round end pins that Sperzel uses are not quite doing the string justice.
