Picture Auto-Resizing

ok, so my title is all sorts of confused because i'm not sure what to call this.

anyway, there are a bunch of times that somebody will post a new picture of a great project and all i can see is a square of their carpet on my screen because their picture is big enough to provide wallpaper for three computer screens laid end to end. i feel like the chances are that this isn't even an option with the type of forum UW is, but TDPRI automatically resizes huge pictures into viewable things, then has a link to allow you to view the picture in its full ridiculous size if you wanted to. if it's possible i think it would be a great feature.

EXAMPLE:

4975505229_c10a1b9d81_z.jpg

Also, it takes all of 5 seconds to resize an image. on the most basic of photo editors.

if you own a computer. you possess the technology to resize a photo.

I would love auto resize, mostly for photo's embedded from another site.

but I also ask that people open up MSPaint and do it themselves. out of courtesy

i open the pics in a new window in Firefox, it autosizes it to fit to screen that way.

+1 - - use FF, right click on the picture and choose "View Image"

i right click and do the "view image" thing all the time anyway, but it would just be a nice feature. it can really kill a page when you're waiting for a 3500 by 4000 picture to load before anything else can load in.

i guess everybody really does have resizing programs at their disposal, but it seems like not everybody wants to use them. i love flickr's resizing options!
