Pickups for swamp ash strat and maple neck

I bought 3.5lb swamp ash body from warmoth and install my 1987 Fender MIJ maple neck on it. I do not know may be because 3,5lb it is too light body or what ever, but I found that it is not enough tightness in the bass... :( I want to try to fix it with proper PU set. The thing is that I still want my strat has classic 50's tone. So, I am thinking of either Fender 54, 57 custom set or dimarzio true velvet set. Do you have any idea what can help me?
Thanks.

Callaham H/SRV Specials. I have put them in 4 Strats now and they are still my favorite. Make sure to use RS Guitarworks 280K volume pot and 250K tone pots with a Lux phone book cap.  Exceptional combination.

Thanks, but as I understand Hendrix and SRV are not ash/maple and 50's. It is a bit different tome of strat. Am I right?

Ash/maple doesn't have any thing to do with it, per se, if you're trying to get a vintage '50s Strat tone you DO need a vintage style all maple neck. The pickups Tonar was recommending are excellent, but wound a bit hotter than the original vintage pickups. You might want to consider the Callaham  Real '54 Specials on the same page.

If you want to save a few bucks off of that, check out the Fender Custom Shop Fat 50's; I've got them in a couple of builds and having owned '54/'57/'62/'64 Strats in my long and checkered guitar career, they're about dead on.

Hi,

check out Leosounds Vintage Player '56

Ciao Stephan

Kinman all the way for me.

Real singles are totally useless when you come up against some of the crap wiring in venues, such as I play.

Who cares how great a pickup's tone is if noone can hear it above the HUM ??

I use Kinmans in ALL my strats and they're fantastic, all the tone and quieter than the quietest humbucker.  :headbang:
