Pearl Sharkfins on Maple? Pics?

Hey to each their own, but it's appealing to me. Take a look at this:

Is that something you already have, or something you aspire to?

My dads. He's not really a Zakk fan, he just likes the Army paint. But the pearl on maple looks great (to me) in person on it

I can't say I share your enthusiasm for that decorative scheme, but if you've seen that one in person and were impressed enough to want to emulate it, I don't understand your original question. You wanted to see sharkfin inlays - do you suppose they're going to look that much different than blocks? With so little contrast to the surrounding wood, you could probably have penis-shaped inlays made of that material embedded in that species of wood and nobody would notice. Also, it's worth considering why you can't find examples of what you're contemplating. Not that you need anybody's approval, but still. It says something that nobody does it when it's easy enough to do. I mean, you're not asking for anything custom. Warmoth will build what you want. Money's money, after all.

I wanted to see pics merely out of curiosity, I know enough of how it looks to know that I will like it, but I still would've liked to see it for real. I would prefer abalone, as I said, but they don't offer it and I'm really not a fan of dots on anything but a Strat (I'm designing a Soloist.) I could bring up a few more points defending my choice, but as you have realized as well, we're not here to be disputing our tastes. Pearl inlays or not I think you guys are gonna dig my design when everything is done  :guitarplayer2:

-Rory, I say go for it. I see pearl blocks on maple in the showcase all the time, then they go away. Somewhere, someone is buying them. I don't think shark-fins are that much of a far cry from the blocks in respect to the looks of it. I've even considered one with blocks on a '72 recreation-on-steroids idea, so I can see how ya could make that combo work.

Nice! That's the first actual pic I've seen. I like it even better now, the inlay tool doesn't do the design as much justice
