The neck got here this morning, hopefully the body will arrive soon. As you can see, the box did the job and my all Pau ferro neck made it to Australia without any drama. It's going on a one piece swamp ash body.

BTW.  I ordered this neck the "old" way. No special one of a kind stuff or upcharged features, except for abalone dots and a graphite nut. I rarely see any lefties in the showcase worth bothering with so I enjoy the anticipation of ordering blind and trust to luck.

LOVE it! I'm a big fan of pau ferro, highly underrated wood imo.

This is my first pau ferro neck. I've got a lot of birdseye maples, I've used canary, rosewood, bubinga and padouk with ebony, kingwood, ziricote, rosewood and bubinga fingerboards. I like variety! This one feels great.......not too many more to pick from now

boy, I like this neck! I know its very unpolite, but I really like to know how much this one cost...

its funny to see that pau ferro is not really 'that expensive', but its most of the time, not long enough for neckbacks...

@ willyk: which neckback do you like most?I like wenge, rosewood and ziricote, and padouk to a lesser degree. all of them paired, by the way, with an ebony board..

The price was "as listed" Pro construction pau ferro/pau ferro  $247. + graphite nut $30. and abalone dots $15.

As for a favorite neckback?...so far raw bubinga for feel but that could change for this when I get it up and running. It feels really slick straight out the box.

Hey Nonsense, I haven't weighed the baby yet but the body arrived this morning and I pushed the neck on. Despite pau ferro being regarded as being heavy, and it's a boat neck too, I reckon the balance is going to be magic.

I'm going to sand/seal it first, then grainfill with black a couple of times and perhaps a brown burstover depending on how it turns out. I haven't really decided. :dontknow:

lol, when I read the first part of this post, I thought you were going to do that on the neck :p

strange that this neck was only 250-300, whilst for a paddle, they wanted to charge me over $700....

$700? how so? Did you want something extra other than the paddle headstock? I mean, one piece vintage or pre-chosen wood or something. Mine is just priced off the standard chart so it's available for everyone  :icon_scratch:

I've decided on a variation of "barndoorburst" So far I have applied a mixture of oil based grainfiller mixed with black stain which I washed off with turpentine after a1/2hr. I'll do a blow by blow in the DIY section when it's done.

no, 700 for the woods...200 for the special inlay and 90 for the binding. strange huh? :)

Willyk, that is a wicked neck, as are all your projects. Can't wait to see it turn out. BTW, how did you like that unusual (and cool) P90/HB lp jr with the fender hardtail?
