Hello I located the Tele bridge I would like to use, but it doesn't come in black. It is steel with either a chrome or nickel plating. For the bridge plated, would you think this would be successful.
Prime with etching primer
spray paint black

I don't know, but I could ask if you think so. Would I have better success if I could get the part before it was plated?

you'd probably need to rough up the chrome plating with some sand paper first. At least enough to knock out the shine. Then shoot it with the etching primer and paint... :icon_thumright:

KG Gunkote. I've been experimenting with this stuff for a while now. It works great. I spoke with Hipshot and its very similar to what they use on their black bridges.

I have no spraying gear. I would be using cans.

Unplated would be best. In my conversations with Hipshot they will sell unplated parts. There are people that will spray that Gunkote stuff for you. There's a similar product called Duracoat. This stuff is designed for firearm refinishing. All the cool guys have fancy Glocks and Sparkly Bronze AR's.

Or if you are working with unplated steel just get some cold blue at your local gun store/sporting goods place and blue it your self.  With multiple applications it should be very close to black and would be way more durable than paint.
