OT Rant - Mahogany is NOT A COLOR

I suppose this is really just a rant. Search engines have always existed to funnel you into purchases. But of late it's gotten harder and harder to get anything OTHER than a thing to buy. They're burying forums and discussion and the product's they steer you to are often totally unrelated. Try searching for shellac and not being flooded by nail salons. I went looking for finishing ideas for mahogany, but they seem to think that 'mahogany' is itself a color, not a wood to be finished. Gaaaah.

I suppose the same could be said of rust, lemon, blonde, turquoise, amber or fuchsia, etc.

Oh yeah - I know you can narrow it down. -shipping -cart -free -hair -nails -salon  -stock, etc... But more and more I find these exclusions not being honored.
A handy trick is also to use the inurl tag - inurl:forum is a good way to get results where people are talking about a thing and not a site trying to sell me a thing.

A few years ago when they started popping up ads 'Buy xyz' I did a search for 'galley slaves' and sure enough - where to buy galley slaves popped up.

Not that I need dye. I'm sort of thinking about using matte WOP and no grain fill. I think gloss without fill results in shiny dots, so even though I'm not really opposed to a gloss finish - I might do it in this case.

According to wikipedia, the first recorded use of mahogany (reddish brown) as a color name in English was in 1737 and Crayola has had a mahogany crayon in the '40s.

As much as I love the concept of DuckDuckGo, it consistently disappoints as a search engine. As much as I loathe Google, as a search engine it consistently gives me exactly what I'm looking for even when I misspell every single word.

yeeeeeeaaaaa.  I gave up on duck duck go some time ago.  Too bad - I never liked google knowing too much about my stuff.
