Planning... :sign13:  That thread Gregg posted with the Padouk topped VIP has me all hot and bothered.  I have a set of humbuckers made with Cocobolo that would look fantastic on padouk.  I'm looking around the basement now to see what i can ebay off to pay for another....

Shipped....  :blob7:  Woooohooo!!!!  Warmoth dosent charge your credit card until they ship...  Friday shows a transaction with Warmoth on my card....    Yeee freakin Haaa!  Now its up to UPS, from Washington to Kansas, that can't take long!!!  My double-f-hole, p-90 routed, recessed tune-o-matic, bubinga topped thinline is on its way!!!  Yeeehaaaa!!!

Done.... :guitarplayer2:  I got my pickguard in the mail for my other guitar project, aside from a few setup details, its done...  Not one single Warmoth part on it, but its still a great ax, in fact this one has been and will forever be my #1, the one remaining original part is the body.
So, I just

Don't want that VIP, its glossy.  I don't like glossy.  Everything else about that VIP is perfect.  I  don't like the way light sources reflect in glossy, or the way fingerprints show up, or how glassy/plasticy they feel.  I know its probably better protection for the wood, but I don't care, I wanna feel the wood (does that sound gay?)

Dependes on WHICH wood :laughing7:
Here in Brazil probably you would be completely joked about after this, we are very inventive at jokes  :toothy12:

I know what you mean... Some guitars might be that natural look instead of glassy...
Look too into Bloodwood, Brent's Soloist has a top of it and it's awesome...

For someone with the word 'knob' in their name you shouldn't really use that kind of language  :laughing7:
Seriously, I couldn't agree more, love the woody look (and I am sure feel) of your thinline! I was seriously considering going for a wood pg on my thinline, but decided to stick to me original 'disign'

Marko, DangerousR6, Your thinline on your avatars are some of my faves on the board.  I've used yours as inspiration and reference on the next one I'm builind... Be sure to watch the "Just out of the box" forum in the next week....

Info on my old thinline's recent customizations..

Pickups are Reed James Custom, the only brand I'm using anymore.  Wound on Pistacio bobbins.  They sound fantastic, wound to "vintage" specs and with a zinc plating on the baseplate of the bridge pickups.  And I am convinced the wood bobbins do indeed influence the tone for the better.  Plus they're nice to look at.

The knobs are Cocoblo.  I got them from Exotic Wood Knobs and Guitar Parts, an ebay store.  And its common knowledge that wood knobs on a guitar increase the acoustic resonance of the instrument by 4%.  Anyone who says otherwise is smoking crack.  Its a scientific fact, and an easy way to find out who's smoking crack.

The neck is from Karosa, I got it on ebay for all of $90 after shipping.  Karosa regularly puts necks on ebay.  The neck is Goncalo Alves, the fingerboard is Marblewood.  Its got a chunkier profile than my previous stock maple neck that came on the guitar.  The frets are medium jumbo, just like I like them.  A 12 flat radius.  Overall, Karosa has made a decent neck, I need to file down the fret ends and there's one fret thats a wee bit short and causes some buzz.  But for the money, I'm a fan of their work.  A little tweaking left, but it feels fantastic and sounds huge.

Pickguard is from Artisan Guitar Repair.  Its Pau Ferro.  Its laminate on plastic.  I think they make them on a ply of wood too.

You tipped me off to its existence, Fernando.  :evil4: :laughing7:

Vol knob, that is one kick ass guitar.  Get used to that sequence, 1 done, 1 on the way, and 1 planned.  :icon_biggrin:
