Old Warmoth LP and LPS Schematics

Does anyone by chance have schematics for the LP and LPS bodies? Since Warmoth can't make them anymore, I'd like to be able to make my own bolt-on LP and LPS someday.

Schematics are for wiring up the controls/pickups, etc...
Those can be found for free at various websites, ie; Seymour Duncan, Dimarzio, etc...

As far as CNC or Blueprints, you won't find the Warmoth versions anywhere.  Along with the "cease and desist" orders from Gibson to produce the bodies, the same goes for any publication of such.

You might be better served looking online, such places as these folks have them, but they won't necessarily be what Warmoth was doing, and there's no way to really confirm.

I figured Warmoth themselves wouldn't provide it, but perhaps some enterprising person who owns some of the old bodies would be able to create such templates.

You can find blueprints for LP and LPS guitars all over the internet. The only thing different about the Warmoth version is the strat neck pocket but you can result add that. Just make sure to get the correct distance from the neck pocket to the bridge. If you have access to CAD software (there are free ones available) you can import a picture of the guitar shape you want, scale it based on a known dimension (such as Body width) and start overlaying arcs to replicate the shape. Once you have the shape drawn you can get a 1:1 copy plotted at Kinkos.

Yeah I suppose that is all it is I've got some experience with cad software. Should be simple enough. I suppose I could make some improvements of my own as well.

I have some copied to my computer. I got them from places where the people were specifically sharing them, so I don't feel bad sharing them here. They are both 1:1 already, so just find a way to print them off. As far as getting a bolt on pocket, they are pretty easy to modify. I have neck pocket templates too if you want one of those.

I will throw in a little disclaimer I suppose. Gibson likes to protect it's intellectual property. These templates were drafted based on vintage guitars, and may not be perfect, however, they are very, very close and intended only for personal use when building guitars.

Neck pocket template would be great!

Question about these: how does the neck pocket angle work with bodies that usually had set necks? Are they still flat like a strat, or is the neck angled down in comparison to the fat back of the body?

Les Paul, neck pockets have an angle to them. As I recall they are somewhere around 4 to 4.5 degrees but this is from memory from what I have read.

You can buy templates on ebay for a couple of bucks. But templates will only take you so far. You need to know how to work with wood. For example, there isn't a template for the fretboard radius or a template for the neck angle. You'd need a jig.

that having said. I made my own templates for the neck pocket and neck angle. I mean...Gibson's pocket is stupid. In every respect. I also made my own templates for the control cavity, headstock, neck itself and I made my own jigs for the neck angle and radius. I carve by hand.

Lots of fun. Didn't do woodwork for 6 weeks, closer to 8 I suppose, and I forgot how much fun it is.

If you don't mind going for a set neck, there are other companies who make LP bodies and necks to order. Also, any halfway decent luthier would knock you up a set of whatever you want. Helluva lot easier than trying to do your own if it's not a process you're familiar with.
