Guys, a easy question for you.
One piece maple neck.
I would like to apply a finish that:

1. light, (to feel like natural wood)
2. protect the natural color of the maple again use
3. giving the appearance * lived * to handle
4. no gloss no tru oil by birchwood
5. without compressor

Only a filler is madness?

I;m getting Mr Tonar to do a boiled oil finish on a maple neck for me.  Don't know about the process, but the result sounds like it will be a fast non-sticky neck that will be a joy to play.

Send it to Tonar, tell him how you want it to look and feel and don't worry about the details, 'cause he'll get it proper done.

I've got one of those necks, boiled linseed oil feels great.

He pours it over himself every night..

Wait..

Tonar is one of the resident finishing lords on the board.  If it has/can/or possibly could be done, he'll know what to do.  I have made little squares of flame maple for test pieces with dyes.  I put Pure Tung oil on them and they came out nicely.  Pretty much what you have described.  Boiled Linseed is the same general process but a different starting material.  It takes time, but in the end it is very nice.  I believe that CB has also talked a lot about it.  You might search for threads on it and look for those users.

Forgive my ignorance, but you're talking about **who** ?

Sorry, we forget sometimes that Tonar isn't a celebrity outside our forum. Check this thread, and maybe it'll answer some questions for you: http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=13313.msg189399#msg189399

No, no, excuse me!

I don't understand English very well and when I understand sometimes...
but it is often wrong  :tard: :tard: :tard: :tard: :tard:

p.s.:
I had seen the 3d, I also wrote ... :icon_scratch:

Sanding sealer would do the trick. and because it has a lacquer base you don't void your protection.

Tonar probably gets used and abused quite a bit.  The burnt Swamp Ash guitar?  Kasmir?

Yeah, but both of those guitars turned out awesome. And how many people can say that about a guitar that was finished WITH FIRE!
