Not Warmoth, but vaguely Warmoth-inspired? (Repost)

Hey all!

I'm a long time lurker, longer time admirer, occasional poster and 2-for-2 Guitar of the Month winner (haha) of some lovely Warmoth content.

Just writing this post to document my progression into scratchbuilding my first guitar out of timber - while attending luthiery school here in the UK (Crimson Guitars if you know you know).

it's a Mahogany Body and Neck, Walnut top and Rosewood fretboard, Thinline Telecaster with Filtertrons, 24.75" scale and a Tune-O-Matic. A bit of sacrilege but its my hybrid!

Take a look at the photos and let me know what you think of my first attempt - again I 100% wouldn't have had the confidence to try this without having 2 Warmoth builds in the past so I feel indebted to everyone here for what I've achieved!

Thanks!
Rhys

Curious: How long did it take to carve the neck with the shinto rasp? First with the rasp, then with sandpaper and check the shape again and again?

Probably about an hour from square to a rough unsanded ‘faceted’ outline of neck shape with the right thickness, then an Iwasaki carving file to gently shape in the transitions between the heel and the neck, and the volute and neck, finally then used a random orbital sander with a soft pad to gently break the corners of the rasping and filing, from 120 grit up through the grits to 2000 grit. Probably about 3 hours work in all.
