Normal or Split Coil Pickup Switch?

Hi, I am working on a project with three rail humbuckers (2 hot rails, and a chopper).

Should I use a normal selector switch, or a split coil pickup selector switch?  What is the difference?

Without knowing exactly where the pickup are located, here is an interesting wiring with 3 rails:

I did this with a hotrails/collrails/coolrails combo and like it a lot.  I had to change wire colors to SD to do this.  5 way with a super switch.

Conventional pickup wiring will have you run your coil taps to a push/pull pot, usually a tone pot for strats.  You can check out the Seymour Duncan website for the diagram...Good luck
