Nordstrand Pickup for 5 String Gecko Medium Issue

So I'm installing the Nordstrand soap bars in a Gecko 5 Medium. I noticed that even with waxing the screws, they are in danger of getting stripped as they will only go in so far. And then there is a huge gap under the pickup. And they're too high. I don't want to strip the screws. So I figure I'm going to need some pickup foam underneath and prolly need to drill the holes a little deeper. Seems pretty straightforward but I just wanted to run this by anyone with experience in this area in case it's a "no you dummy, you need to..."

And I need to create a separate topic for this whole build too...

Pilot holes to the correct depth and pre thread them if possible.

It's been mentioned before but this little kit has pre threading bits in it.
