Have you asked Paul about a rosewood neck? I´d bet if he could get the wood for it he would make you one. He was super cool about helping me out with a floyd rose and I have seen him do special request wood options too.

I have, on multiple occasions. I even offered to buy the rosewood blank and send it his way. He can do just about anything else but that it seems.

Are you saying he would not do a rosewood fretboard?  I had contacted him a number of months ago and wanted to do custom inlay and he said I could get a rosewood fretboard from Stew Mac, do the inlays and then he would mount it on the neck.

No I asked about an all rosewood neck. I believe the original reason he gave was that he couldn't get neck blanks in rosewood long enough to include his tenon. I offered to locate and supply my own blank but I can't remember why he said he couldn't accecpt it. When I get home I'll find the exact email to give you the reason stated as why he couldn't accept a blank from me.

OK, that makes sense.  I wasn't sure if you were talking about the whole neck or just the fretboard.  Thanks!

No I asked about an all rosewood neck. I believe the original reason he gave was that he couldn't get neck blanks in rosewood long enough to include his tenon. I offered to locate and supply my own blank but I can't remember why he said he couldn't accecpt it. When I get home I'll find the exact email to give you the reason stated as why he couldn't accept a blank from me.

My guess is all the variables with a neckblank from outside their own shop...will the dimention fit the CNC machine they use since it´s adjusted to bee compatiblee            with the blanck they make them self, will it fit the produktionmethod with the 10" tenon...it would probably just take to much time and cost to much for it to be resonable for them to do.

Here's a quote from the email they sent me:

"For a variety of reasons, we have adopted the policy of not accepting customer wood - so that's not something that we help out with.  Rosewood in particular is problematic in that we have to be careful about where and how we get it - Gibson was raided by the FTC over rosewood lumber.  If you are willing to look at some alternatives, we can source many exotics for necks (rosewood being the primary one we haven't been able to get).  We have had customers go with bubinga necks in place of rosewood.  Let me know if you want to discuss some alternatives."

They also offered to do a laminate neck. Which I'll take them up on that offer when I build one of their single cut models.

Okey, wetsanded the top today...did´t start with the rest because I´m low on sanding paper. So just the top..wetsanded 800-2000 grit then a light polish.

I know the thread is a bit old, but have you got more pictures of the finished guitar? I wasn't too impressed by the colors in the first pictures you posted (before the clear coat), but in the last ones it looks very nice, and the masked binding between the mahogany body and dyed top is stunning.

Hey gang,

I know I'm probably committing a forum faux pas but there a method to my madness for resurrecting a 3+ year old thread. I'm seriously now considering getting a PVX build and I'm wondering how, after playing it for 3 years, how this build is holding up to the test of time?  Any issues with neck warp or issues with keeping it in tune?  Thanks in advance gang and again, sorry for bringing this super old thread back to life.
