Hey All,

Just wanting to know if anyone else here has completed any wood working projects that are non guitar related? I'll get the ball rolling:

This is my M.A.M.E (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) Cabinet. Took me about 4 months to build. Cabinet, paint and all arcade controls done by me. Paint isn't too great, but its still a work in progress.

Some more...

Right now this sits in my lounge room, and is always a heap of fun when friends come over.

The guts of it is basically just a an old PC running DOS and M.A.M.E.

I have with 207 classic games including:

-After Burner 2
-Arkanoid
-Golden Axe
-Pengo
-Blueprint
-Bomber Man
-Circus Charlie
-Columns
-Batman
-Bubble Bobble
-Space Invaders
-Galaxian
-Rampage
-Pacman
-Pang
-R Type
-Mortal Kombat 2 & 3
-Street Fighter 2
-Street Fighter Alpha 2
-Metal Slug 2 & X
-Arkanoid
-Double Dragon 1,2,& 3
-Rygar
-Tetris
-Donkey Kong
-Mario Bros.
-Mega Man
-Mr. Do
-Q*Bert
-Xevious

Apart form the new 60 gig hardisk, its all 1980-90's hardware. Even with a Creative Soundblaster 16 card.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Phase 1 - Setup computer hardware, DOS, congifure game software and install games.

Phase 2 - Create wooden box frame, which will become the mounting points for: keyboard, joysticks, 19" LCD screen, amplified speakers and cabling.

Phase 3 - Build/assembly of screen bezel and marquee. This will conceal the LCD, and provide mounting points for speakers and fluorescent tube.

Phase 4 - Build and assembly of outer cabinet skin panels. Slot routing for T-Moulding.

Phase 5 - Sanding and painting of all outer panels.

Phase 6 - Mounting of PC Hardware, speakers, keyboard, LCD, Control Panel and external power button.

Phase 7 - Apllication of cabinet and marquee art. Final cleanup of cabling and application of T-Moulding.

Looks very nice. I'm a classic console collector, I've got pretty much one of everything. One of these years I'd like to have a MAME cab as well.

The last non-guitar woodworking projects were this step stool...

It's solid oak. Thing weighs about 9,318 lbs. You definitely don't want to kick it in your stocking feet wandering around the kitchen at night. It just laughs at the bone density of your toes.

I also built a couple amplifier cabinets...

Front and back view. Claro Walnut case, zebrawood face, oak back panel. Polyurethane finish.

Same thing, but in oak.

Up next: Booze cabinet. All walnut. Gonna cost a jillion bucks, and weigh a bazillion pounds. It's my roommate's project, though. I don't know how he's going to get it out of the shop. Probably have to call Gelock Heavy Movers.

Parking the Sunday go-to-meetin' car

Thanks. They are pretty strong. They both have dovetail joints on the main box, so it would take quite a bit to break one. The wood would probably break before the joint would.

Thanks! They're going be the new homes for a couple of Trevor's "Mayfly" amps. They'll look a lot better once they have chassis in them.

OMG I want one of those arcades :o :o :o :o !!

Would go well with my wood Mario :headbang:
