I think I've seen this body in the showcase for years... Ok so personally I'm a 100% solid finish guy myself, but I do think this one looks really cool. I'm really suprised it never leaves  :toothy12:

Are there any other bodies that has been around forever in the 'case?

I almost bought that V in the sale.  Bought a soloist body instead.

Also almost bought this:

I'm really surprised nobody has bought it yet.  It's beautiful, and unique.

That VK body has almost no appeal for me personally. I typically wouldn't knock somebody's gear but since it's an inventory item, and since you asked...well here's what went through my head in the 20 seconds I looked at it:

I like the classic V shape way better
Don't really like low-mass guitar bodies in general
Alder's okay but not a special selling point
Top looks okay but the quilt maple/black dye thing doesn't wow me anymore if it ever did
The burst on the back with the alder is very bleh
I can definitely work with a recessed TOM bridge but if this guitar isn't a "needs a Floyd" I don't know what is
$550 shipped! Seems like a lot for a flat-top with straight lines everywhere

It would be useless to me at any price, I'd never build out the guitar. A lot of specific things about this that you need the right buyer for.

One day the stars will align and some guy will wander by Warmoth's site in the market for a small V body, without a Floyd, and maybe something fancy with binding (and then actually pull the trigger). Or just catching someone's eye and they buy on a whim. I'm sure a few people have eyeballed it.

Binding kinda ruins the looks. And its a V. Maybe they have a smidge more coolness than stars, but numbers wise they are probably still way down there in the "not a strat or tele" pool

I bought that V-K body this morning....NOT. Its kinda cool but the price tag is rather lofty. At this point I'd go with the Switchback if I was afflicted with the shape.

you had me confused for a sec. thats a VR as in Rhoads. The VK is a King V. I love that body but I'm deathly afraid of neck dive! And there is no way to find out until you've built it and then you can't return it.

Different reasons for different people... I like some of its features (starting by the shape) and I don't like some of the company's choices. If they didn't paint & rout the figured top showcase bodies my Warmoth guitars would be three times more but they claim this helps their sales so they must know better.

I bought more expensive bodies in the past when I could afford them and I hadn't searched the competition too well. Now the Asian companies get better and better every day, I have two Asian made guitars. One cost half the money of this body and the other, a (Gibson style) V cost just a little over this.

That's a valid reason. It's weight is a welcome gift but Warmoth (wrongly IMO) does not offer any style of neck that most people would put in this body with a single rod truss rod. If you also make the mistake of choosing woods that are almost always heavy then the neck dive is unavoidable.

I'd be willing to bet those weren't "company choices", but the result of a cancellation/return. I've been watching the Showcase for years, and haven't noticed where Warmoth makes such unusual choices. What's strange is what they're asking for it. You'd think they'd recognize the thing for the white elephant it is, and price it accordingly. On the other hand, you never know what's going to trip someone's trigger.

Going back to the original post, apparently this is intended for Cedric and he's just still on the fence
