No-Load Pot for Volume?

I know that no-load pots are usually used for tone, and turning them fully up bypasses the pot and capacitor, but is there any reason they shouldn't also be used for volume? In theory it should then be possible to bypass both the tone and vol pots, and get the sound of the pickups going directly to the output. Or would something else happen, like bypassing the volume will kill the output completely?

The only disadvantage I can think of is that if you were trying to control the volume for fades etc, there might be a sudden jump in volume at the fully open position.

using a no load pot for volume will turn OFF the signal from the pickup, disallowing it to get through to the output
