Next Project '50 Esquire (Body Arrived)

So my next project is a '50 Esquire. I have yet to decide on the neck but the Warmoth body and pick guard just arrived and I have all the relic hardware.

The body is Swamp Ash about 4lbs 10 oz finished in Daphne Blue. It does have the neck pickup routing but as you see I got a .09" thick solid white pick guard with no neck pickup opening with the vintage 5 screw holes.

I have never owned a solid color body before, I have a thing with wood grain and transparent or burst finishes, but I am very happy with this one and really like it. Another great thing I love about Warmoth that Fender in my opinion does wrong. Just because a body is a solid color dont give me an Alder body. A Tele should be Swamp Ash no matter the finish

You mean Esquire? The only difference between a Telecaster and a Esquire is a Telecaster has 2 pickups and an Esquire has only the bridge pickup. Other than that its the same body size and shape

You might consider an unfinished roasted maple neck for that.  To me they give the impression of age without the fake 'relic'ing, and they feel great.  Don't smell bad either.

This is true but since Warmoth does not sell a true Esquire body I didnt mention this. I wish they did. Another difference is the original Esquire was Pine which according to Warmoth they used to offer but they said it "gummed" up their machines so once they ran out of pine they didnt offer it again.

I do like roasted maple and have one on my Thinline I built but like my '51 Ncaster project I am trying to stay as vintage as possible within the limits of what I like to play though in all honesty flame or birdseye isnt very vintage correct either

That's only true for the very very early ones, my '62 Esquire measures 1.75".  Mine also has a different switch configuration than shown above, position #2 & #3 are reversed.
