Thanks for all the replies everybody. I changed out out the pu's for some Jason Lollar Specials and that sounds pretty damn good. They may be a little smooth for some, but I like to use the amp to add distortion so it works for me. These overwound pu's give you more output without ''coloring'' the tone very much IMHO. I played my aforementioned buddies strat and thought mine sounded much better after the change.
I still want a korina warmoth strat bad, but am not sure if I should do a top or a rear routed guitar...I hate covering up that wood with a pick guard but I don't want to do anything that will sacrifice tone. I am leaning towards the rear route in a HSS or HSH configuration. Not sure what kind of neck would compliment korina well.
