I adddition to the P90 (that I also associate with Leslie West), the Filtertrons sounded really good. And for me, too, Malcolm Young is ”the” sound. Great video!
I have Kent Armstrong humbucking P90s in a guitar, and they are 100% noise-free and 90% P-90 sounding. Whoa I just paused it, you clobbered me with a four syllable word right off the bat.............
I’ve tried their stack and the SD version, but I find their output levels to be a bit short, so I prefer to use the SD Blackout preamp with them to beef up the level, otherwise it’s the EMG 58 for me.1. I like the sound of the P-90.
2. I absolutely hate noise.
Has anyone tried the Dimarzios?

We don’t have to convince you that vintage P90 pickups are special. You already love their thick mid-range grittiness and growl, their creamy single-notes, and their harmonic bloom. The only drawback has been that P90s are noisy. DiMarzio’s challenge was to create a hum-canceling pickup that fit...www.dimarzio.com
I have used an old Hush Pedal successfully with p-90'sAnybody had luck with just using a noise gate pedal to tame single coil/P-90 hum?
Or does it take noiseless to find the joy?
