I wonder what lead him to try this...

I'm guessing it's a "I can do it, why not" situation. These days with parts being cheap you have to really want it to start something from scratch. Many people are trying whatever they have in their heads, guitarists are no exception.

I'm guessing too much time on his hands. On the plus side, at least he's being productive.

The guy sounded like a pretty good player too.  Judging from the tools he had and the methods used I believe his main gig is making snowboards / skateboards.

I wonder what lead him to try this. I must admit I am really drawn to it.

Build quality looks a little sketchy...it will be interesting to see how it colors the tone.

I'm all for experimenting with alternate materials, but this might be where I draw the line.

How do you think a few licks on a guitar made of sherbet cup sticks would sound?

:help:

Not sound, but rather taste!  (I'm partial to strawberry myself)

I contacted him and asked and he said no matter how hard he tried, it would only play the blues.... :laughing11:

That's a shame. That thing was meant to play Axis: Bold as Love.

Or even the entire Rainbow Bridge album, it has enough colours to do so.

I finally watched the vid of the pencil guitar.... Wonder how much those pencils and epoxy cost him?

A quick look on Amazon says you can get a box of 50 for $9 that measures 0.63 x 7.31 x 8.25 in.

Clear epoxy casting resin is sold a lotta different ways, so it's tougher to say. Buddy of mine did a 3'x6' table top some years back - seems to me he spent about $50 for a gallon, but don't quote me.
