Just got my new Tele body in the mail! Walnut body with a bit of figure in it.

Plans:

Brazilian Ebony neck, should be in this week. It is a bit lighter than the standard color, should look great with the walnut. It will be burnished to 2000 grit.

Gold hardware, no pickguard, walnut control plate, gold knobs

No idea on pickups yet.

Going to sculpt in a belly contour and maybe a neck contour.

Lastly, a surprise wood inlay!

Well, that's mighty handsome.  COngratulations!  Sounds like you have a fine plan worked out.

I'm fond of the Duncan Quarter-Pound bridge pup with the tap and a four-way switch to let you go parallel or series with both pups - gives you lots of useful sounds.

I will look into the Duncans, I was thinking about the DiMarzio Velvet T's as well.

I have this love for walnut, I think this with my walnut Soloist will need a walnut Les Paul style or a VIP to match!

Got my neck in!

May I present Northwest. Just got the guitar back from E.L. Henson Inlay in Falling Waters, WV. He did a great job on the compass rose. Holly and Ebony for the inlay. I am still deciding on the finish, a nice oil finish or gloss lacquer.

That's really nice! Love the inlay, gives me ideas.... (Like I need another way to spend money!)  :icon_thumright:

I like that inlay, too. Attractive, and enhances without being gaudy or ostentatious. Nice work. Is there some special meaning behind it, or just a design choice?

Once there's a finish of some sort on that Walnut it's going to match up with that neck very nicely, in both color and texture. I gotta think that's gonna be a heavy little rascal, though.

Thank you everyone for the compliments! It was a design choice but a symbol I am going to adopt for all my builds in some form in the future(decal or small inlay). The name was actually started as a joke with a friend, a tongue in cheek reference to Kanye and Kim's baby North West. It just sort of grew from there. I have a neck plate from Doug with the name and a compass rose as well.

It is very heavy!  I am planning on doing a very generous tummy tuck by way of a belly contour and neck heel contour. I am hoping that takes a bit of weight away. I am thinking about a half pound when I am done, I may do a few other contours on the back of the guitar as well.
