New Strat Body Builder Officially Launched

Hello all,

We are excited to officially announce the launch of our newest body builder.

Currently it is for just the Strat body but we will be including the other body styles with this new type of builder as well as expanding its capabilities. Please let us know what you think and any suggestions you may have for improvements. We need as much feedback as possible on the flow, feel and user friendly or unfriendly aspects of this application.

Wow I really like this. It's slow to load but my current connection probably isn't great. Is it possible to go the one further step and get the full virtual-guitar builder built in, like USACG does? That would really help you guys to sell more stuff I think, getting people off the fence because they can't quite picture what it is they would be getting.

Had a look a building the body I have on order...

One suggestion to make it perfect would be to be able to look at scratchplate options on the body  :icon_thumright:

Were working on making all bridges, pickups, knobs, and pickguards viewable on the body. It's a lot of images so it's slow going, but it's in the works.

You will not see a complete body & neck builder.  That is not an option with our Fender licensing.

As Sean mentioned, the next phase includes bringing up compatible hardware for the routing options a customer makes.  You will also see the builder rolled out for other body styles and ultimately necks as well.

Okay, Just make sure you've got a strong Contrasting Background Color for the neck builder. then we can Snip the image, paste it in a photo editor and with the magic wand tool...

remove the background, and layer it on our snipped picture of our "Built" body!  :toothy11:

Initially we had a black background for the Strat body, but it didn't leave any contrast for finishes that had a burst to black on the edge.  Then, when you're dealing with the side view and all the possible combinations of wood and finishes, it just wasn't manageable.  So we had to do a greyish gradient so that the body would have some contrast with the background no matter what the paint or wood is.  I imagine that the necks will be the same way.  There's always the Photoshop or Gimp pen tool (does Gimp have a pen tool?) for cutting out necks and bodies though.

This is awesome!  i'm loving the new builder.  Can't wait for it to make it's way to the other body styles.

Have already tried doing some mockups and I think it turns out quite fine with the gimp and it's magic wand!

I did notice that when I clicked on the question mark to get more info on the 720 mod, the price covered up some of the words in the description. (Mac running Safari v4.1)

Wow, this just made ordering a body soooooooooooo much easier and more fun to do. I absolutely love the graphic representation of the finish on the laminate top, it seems very realistic. Also, is it just me or can we now look at more laminate top options? I never saw wild maple as an option... so yeah. It's also little confusing how you can choose the laminate top in the wood section and then choose a laminate top made of a different type of wood in the unique choice section. Other then that, I can't wait 'till we can see this super amazing body builder for other guitar bodies.  :rock-on:
