New project on the way

Another WWII aircraft themed build? But I guess that would make it need a 24" scale neck ;)

carbon fibre or metal neck for this?  italmost seems like wood shouldn't touch it.
That would be cool, I actually found someone who makes aluminum necks. And some guy on youtube has an aluminum body with a an aluminum neck. Looks pretty cool..

Other than the curb appeal, I've never heard anything good about aluminum necks.

I doubt I'd really go that route, I still like wood necks. the aluminum would be quite a novelty, but i don't think I'd really like it for a player guitar... :dontknow:

I'm tellin' ya. Bloodwood. It's the whip.
Bloodwood looks good, but I did a mock up, and didn't really like the look.. Actually goncalo alves looks inviting.. :icon_biggrin:

Maple neck/ebony board. Doesn't really 'fit' but it doesn't get in the way either - people are used to seeing maple necks, so if you want a wood guitar that won't attract attention from the body, that's what I'd do. Paint the headstock red, with some kinda decal or insignia. Paint D-Day stripes down the body and leave the rest of the aluminum bare. And 'nose art' on the body somewhere.

Black HW & pickguard except for Chrome pickups.

What about the rivets, don't forget them? That's the most important part... :icon_biggrin:

I thought you already had a brushed, anodized black aluminum pickguard for the thing?

I like Goncalo, but I'm not feeling it on this one. Perhaps Wenge. Or, if you must have Goncalo, a different fretboard and leave the headstock exposed.

I do, but I was just looking at my options, plus I kinda like the black pealoid. But will probably use the black aluminum.. :headbang1:

I honestly like the black perloid, too. Dresses the body a bit. But, I'd match that to a jet black Ebony 'board. Put that  over Goncalo, and leave the headstock nekkid.

Never been a fan of ebony.. Might try an all wenge neck, but i dunno..  Maybe wenge/ziricote, wenge,goncalo... :dontknow:

I don't think I could put a pearloid pickguard on a shiny aluminum guitar. It looks too much like galvanize.

Not a fan of Ebony? WTF? That's like saying you're not a fan of tits! Even women like tits! Not liking tits leads to not liking women. Not liking women leads to loneliness. Loneliness leads to self-deprecation. Self-deprecation leads to suicide. Suicide is a straight path to Perdition. Don't go to hell. Get an Ebony 'board.
