New project on the way

+1 for the clean look with no dots.
I was trippin' the first time I ordered a neck with no face dots. Thought it might really be a problem.
It's amazing how quickly the brain tunes into the side dots.
Can't wait to see how this metal babe turns out.  Excellent build!!!
:rock-on:
Thanks Bart, ya I was kinda apprehensive about it the first time I ordered one that way. But it's pretty natural now.. :icon_thumright:

That super-strat I built has no dots, mostly because I really didn't want to put them in crooked, but I find that I really like it. I think people just THINK that they use the face dots a lot, but I realized I use the side dots almost exclusively. Which makes sense when you think about it, they are what is pointing at you  :laughing7:

I like the standard headstock, but that's your choice. The GA is definitely awesome though.

That's incredibly nice! How about a Kingwood fretboard over a quartersawn maple?

For controls, how about master vol, master tone, neck blend, and a five way. Get outside two pickups, all three, and other variations of blend.

Kingwood is nice, but I'm not interested in maple. i like the more exotic stuff... :icon_biggrin:

Heathen!  :laughing7:  Canary, then? Maybe Afra? You could always do a dark Pau Ferro neck/Pau Ferro or what have you fretboard.

Afra looks much like Canary, only slightly denser so it feels better to my hand. Not that there's anything wrong with Canary - I like that, too. They're both finish-free as well.

Afra/Afra, "Pro" construction, Warhead, gold 6100s, Schaller Mini-Lockers

That one's slated to go on my next Tele. I think something like it would look great on that Strat, but lose the dots, black hardware instead of gold, and SS frets instead of gold.

But for real, Doug. I think a dark pau ferro neck would look AMAZING. Possibly like this, or darker.

EDIT: By god Cagey. That neck.  Insert andy samberg face here.

No dots, side dots only.  If playing while standing, you don't even see the face.  They are aesthetic only.  Regular dots on that wouldn't look as well as no dots.

With so many agreeing on "no dots" I surprises me that Warmoth doesn't offer a few necks in the showcase with a dots option! Hint! Hint!  :redflag:

Funny story.  Not too long ago I ordered a neck with no dots.  I was told it would be non-returnable for anything other than warranty reasons because it had no dots.  For piece of mind, I sprung for the abalone dots.  Long story short, the residue from where the glue was wiped away became stained and visible as time went on.  I ended up returning it under warranty.  When I told them the irony of returning it for dots that I really didn't even want, they said that policy had changed because they have no trouble selling dotless necks. :dontknow:

+1  I did a blender on one of my Strats and it came out awesome. Tons of tonal variation with that setup.

I'm still digging the Canary/Canary with the updside down Strat headstock myself. I think that with black hardware all around would be a killer look.
