I have 2 cirmson solidbodies and 1 hollowbody LP style guitar. I'm annoyed by the fact that I just have ONE hollowbody! it's really hollow all over, with the F holes and stuff.

so...

I want a fourth crimson, my second hollowbody.

For now the specs are as follows:

spalt beech top
flamed pearwood back
neckthru 3 piece ebony
snakewood fingerboard
5 ply binding top, 3 ply binding board and headstock
standard Crimson headstock and controlroute
charlie christian in the neck, p90 middle and a humbucker in the bridge.

That's it for now. It will take 2 years, minimum to make, but that's by design. I don't mind waiting, I just want that fourth guitar with these specs. i've been running around with them for ages, haha.

The shape will be like a les paul, only more slender, more slim.

I'm both, haha. The thing is, those crimsons I have are the best guitars I own, and the luthier owes me one. I could've destroyed his business with one proverbial stroke of a pen; but I didn't. in stead, I'm going BACK. does that say something about the guitars, me, him, or all of the above? I think the latter. cause his guitars are really, really good. Sure I had an issue with one guitar regarding buzzing of the low E string, but that was partly my fault, though it took me MONTHS to see that. The nut wasn't cut properly, and the E buzzed and the D was a bit too low. I reshaped the nut, put the neck under huge tension, and now the buzzing is nearly gone. my other 2 are better, but this one is just as 'good' as my gibsons. Now I can play it with 010s or 009's, and it still plays sweet.

The reason I was so aggravated the fist time around was because he quoted me 3 months build time, tops; that turned out to be almost 3 years, and the specs were just difficult. This order would be much more straight forward, much easier to do. No timber binding, no difficult inlay or purfling, etc etc. And... we projected it to be 24 months to 36 months lead time. I don't mind, cause this is a guitar that's meant to take a long time. the woods might work after all (beech and ebony are notoriously unstable), and this one is supposed to be a side project, for his fun and my benefit.

I've walked around with this idea for a LONG time. this guitar initiated my wish for beech as a top

My new project will get custom comfort contours as well. My PAF hollowbody is already carved for comfort, and this one will be exactly the same in that respect.

Actually, I want to go up to FORTY guitars. this one, a korina/walnut LP with floyd, a korina/spruce LP with floyd to make 30. and after that a 50ies style strat, 50ies style tele, 60ies style tele, 60ies style strat, LP junior, LP cabronita, LP flattop with humbuckers, LP flattop with minihumbuckers. and after that?! KILL me. no idea. so, thats just 38

The guitar in the pictures reminds me of something like what Adrian Legg uses.  Didn't look to see if it had the nifty two note tunable banjo tuners on it, but it is quite nice looking.

Two 62 Jaguar builds, both to vintage specs but different colors. Shite yeah for Jaguars!

if youre into plinky ploinky tones. sure I'm into balls to the walls rock-tone. My favorite bands are Lynch Mob, the Darkness en iron maiden, to name a few I love right now. where the bleep do jaguars come in play?

even for jazz they suck on multiple levels. Not enough clarity for chording and not enough warmth for soloing.

One of my favorite things about you is your PITA nature at times. I get a real nice tone when I play Jags through my set up. I can run anything from my typical blues/reggae rock gig to some Opeth with one. You gotta build a vintage spec Jag with real good pickups and you can get a good tone. and by vintage spec I mean alder body maple/rosewood fatback neck.

I'd love to see you build a Jaguar, and if you didn't like it I could always trade you my never-ending love for it

no, if I get a job (and I just got one, haha) I'll build it up to 30. aka: 3. I lost my job a week ago (and found a new one yesterday ) 30 is just a nice, round number no particular reason.

about the jag/jazz discussion. Some guys get GREAT tones out of the jazz (I know nobody who uses the standard jag with great results). I have respect for those players (J.Mascis, Elvis Costello), but I just can't jell with the jag or jazz. the strat and tele are the only fenders I like, and only by tone, not looks or playability. I'm a 24.75'' guy. I don't like 25.5''. I found that out just recently, and it takes a lot of work to make a 25.5'' play like a 24.75''

Well, I'd suggest the 1960's television broadcast it's taken from is partly responsible, but in general I also think that a lot of jazz cats go for a treble-deprived tone that I don't care for - and I agree this is a sterling example of it.  I just happened to recall that Joe Pass played a Jag in this video, so threw it up there.  Can't fault the dude's playing.
