New LP body shape

Well, don't start partying yet. They do more than guitars. As a corporation, they still own Baldwin, Epiphone, Kalamazoo, Kramer, Maestro, Slingerland, Steinberger, Tobias, Valley Arts and Wurlitzer. Most of those are also-rans as well, but they're still somewhat viable brands and there's a great deal of IP involved with all that. Even if they went tits-up tomorrow, they'd sell all those trademarks/patents/copyrights to some troll who'd continue to badger the industry for free money via rent-seeking.

Does Kramer build anything besides cheap, entry-level guitars these days?

I've heard of Spector basses but didn't know Spector made guitars.  Are they USA-made or foreign?

Eben more one of a kind. Pickups will be fralin tele in bridge, fralin strat in middle and lolar mini hum in the neck. The nect will be a tele neck, flame maple, brasilian rosewood, compound, standard thin, SS 6105 frets. Did I mention Purple? lol

If I'm reading the OP correctly, the topic appears to be "guess what the new LP shape will be, based on nothing, and affecting nothing".

OK, my guess is that it'll look like a PRS singlecut with a longer bottom horn.

I love my "Star" body but it's been done by Jackson and Charvel, plus there are some other close designs from Ibanez.  I'd love to see Warmoth do a "Star" with some pointy "horns" instead of the rounded ones like the current one.  What can I say, I like my guitars "spikey."  :icon_biggrin:

Ya know, I hate Gibson (and I'll never own one). I'm really sorry I spoke out in defense of their asses when they got raided for illegal woods. I still don't agree with the way that it was done, but Gibson deserves any and all grief they get.

So its not ok for the government to enforce some guidelines that were put in place to keep major money out of drug loards hands but it is ok to rip off some body's iconic and flagship design? That doesn't make sense. :dontknow:

First of all, I said I don't agree with the way the government went about it. Of course they should enforce the Law.

Second of all, Warmoth never "ripped off" Gibson. They don't sell guitars. They sell guitar parts, and the "LP" is a bolt-on neck with a 25-1/2" scale, a contoured heel, and the bridge & tailpiece are in a different location. Gibson makes no such guitar, and just because the body has the same "shape" does not constitute a "rip off". 

This is just a demonstration of what a bunch of douche-bags the Gibson company really are.

The bottom line is Warmoth copied the shape enough to draw attention of the legal department. The "parts company" defense doesn't fly legally either. The intent is very important as well in this case. You have to remember its not afficianados and experts comparing these guitars. Through Warmoth it is possible to build an LP almost identical to a Gibson. Yes theres a bolt on neck but you cant argue with the intent and the end result. I think everyone needs to think with their heads and not with their hearts. Warmoths version is too close of a copy, period. Now I really dont think Warmoth was malicious and set out to destroy Gibson or anything like that but It isnt acceptable legally. I seriously doubt this lawsuit signifies the end for Gibson. Havent they been suing for 40 years now?

it's not that I don't like them, but there is something off about their LP model. and I really liked that other Swedish builder (If I can remember his name)
