My wife and I just bought our first house and moved in a month ago.

We've been working like crazy getting it to be a space we like. Its a 30 year old house and we were pretty sure the people who first lived here had the same curtains and wallpaper we have torn down.

Anyway.  it's a 4 level split, and the basement level is all undeveloped.  So i got to work, It needed power to be a decent jam room.  Framed it in a weekend.  Added a sub panel the next.  Wired it the weekend after that, and here we go!

Also.. drummer friend bought a used Yamaha Electric drumkit for 300 bucks, he always wanted a hybrid kit so we mixed it with his drums (the racks for the 2 fit together perfectly) and added in the rockband kit just for the hell of it.  Now it is massive.  It's pretty much the showcase of the night, we're stupid excited.

The Rockband kit is actually mounted on the rail as well.  I dont know how he did it, but he spent about 2 1/2 hours just playing around with stuff, and managed to get it all to work without buying any extra hardware.

+1... And congrats on the new home. :headbang:

That is one sweet play room, congratulations! Houses are really the only decent way to live.

Your drummer friend's smile speaks volumes, hehe!

Be honest, you only set all that up so can play rock band on a ps3 right?  You can't hide the rock band drum set within the real drum set.

j/k......really nice room.  :headbang:

I honestly thought the same thing, until I saw the drum tuning tool. Then I realised that he's more legit than most drummers....

How does he decide which drums to use? Actually, now that I think about it, he could be in the exact correct key for each song, which I've never heard of a drummer doing.  (Probably says more about my knowledge of drums than it says about drumming.)

We steal the trick Tool uses.  We usually play in Drop D most of the time so if he Tunes his drums to a D triad it should sound fine usually.  But with a rig like that there isn't much use playing normal drumsounds with an electric set.  Those will be for stuff like Tabla and Djembe samples and other more industrial things like FM synth triggers.
