anyone meet their guitar hero in person?  get an autograph?  post a pic if you have one! :kewlpics:

just thought of this while making the "greatest" list.
back in the late 80's early 90's i had the great pleasure to meet and have my home made guitar autographed and a handshake from:
joe satriani
and then,
george lynch

satriani complimented my guitar as looking like his surfing with the alien guitar!  remember that one?

I met Gordie Johnson.  Didn't get an autograph or photo - just shook the man's hand.

Who's Gordie Johnson?  Check it out:

I said hello to Carlos Santana in line at Whole Foods in San Rafael once. I didn't get an autograph nor a photo though. Also spoke on the phone with Tom Johnston of the Doobies once.

I did not meet Joe Satriani at Gary Brawer's shop in the back half of Real Guitars San Francisco one afternoon.  He was be-hatted and be-sunglassed and the vibe rolling off him was "please don't recognize me - I'm here to take care of business and not be a Rock Star."  So I let him be.

I *did* meet Poison Ivy of The Cramps in that same shop the same year.  She and Lux came in to shop for guitars one afternoon while I was noodling.  They were totally cool and friendly, albeit a million times cooler than I'll ever be.

I also hung out with Smokey Wilson at the Dead Goat Saloon in Salt Lake City after a show he did there in summer of 1990.  If you don't know Smokey Wilson, you oughta.  One of those good ol' electric blues players who came up alongside Buddy Guy et al.

I met Joe Walsh at a Guitar Center thing like eight years ago. That's pretty much it.

was joe walsh being hilarious?  he was said about rocky mountain way, "if i knew that song would be so popular, i would have wrote a better song!"

phil x seems cool i watch alot of his guitar videos but the band vids are not so good.
his version of eruption is great!

satch is a tiny dude!  he was wearing gloves while meet n greet.  i met the first stage of satch, long hair. then there was bucket hat joe, now the bald alien joe!

Some of you may not know who Adrian Legg is but he's been my "guitar hero" since I first heard him in 1994. In 2007 I attended a workshop with him for 4 days and it was, to me, an experience I'll never forget. We've been friends ever since and stay in touch on a regular basis. Guitar hero to teacher to friend.....pretty awsome.

I too have met Joe Walsh.  He was the entertainment for a pre-concert Rolling Stones party.
It was back in 89', so Joe was still in the peak of his partying days.  Very nice guy!

I met Johnny Winter once and got him to autograph a pickguard for me.  He was not feeling well, so there was not much conversation.

I also met Robert Cray on a couple of occasions.  I got a pic with him and he signed the headstock of my Robert Cray strat.

I have also met Willie Nelson and Tony Bennett; however, both of these meetings were in a working environment when I was a Chef in my previous life.
So, out of professional courtesey, I left them alone.  I also got to cook dinner for Billy Joel and Howard Stern.  Again, it was a professional situation, so I left them alone.

:rock-on:

I met Zakk Wylde at a Guitar Center once about 12 years ago.  I don't get star struck easily, so I didn't get an autograph.  When I was 12, I attended a Motocross camp and Poison came and road bikes with us.  My dad changed Bret Michaels' handlebars.  They were opening for David Lee Roth during his Vai/Sheehan phase.

I got to shake hands with and get an autograph from BB King - I had a hard time getting sentences out but I know I spelled my name for him to which he replied "E-Y, that's what I thought," and over-earnestly thanked him.

I shook hands with Brian May and Pete Townsend! (well that were the biggest ones)

It is my ultimate goal to shake hands with Steve Howe!!!!          :icon_jokercolor:

This is a crappy scan, but I met and hung out with VH, the Gary Cherone version. The day before got to meet Satriani at Tower Records in L.A.
