While I finish scraping together the money to pay my exorbitant tax bill, I've had to content myself with some minor purchases and major Photoshop work. So, not having any real concrete build progress to post, I'll share what I have done, for any that are interested.

I've already posted the planned engraving for the Control Plate, but a left handed version. Here's the corrected view:

That same pattern will carry over onto the bridge, in this case a Babicz Z-Series:

And while we're at it, also to the headstock via a decal. The headstock will be black lacquered, the decal printed in white text against a silver filigree:

And finally, my standard Neck Plate, with the name of the build and the serial number:

Hopefully all coming together, and looking something like this:

I have the neck, bridge, tuners, and some misc. items. The pups are on order, and in another week or so and I can order the body, which is the last major component. Then, I'll get the final artwork out to Doug so he can work his magic on the engraved parts. I'm feel'n the itch, start'n to jones for a new Tele!

Thanks Bro, it all hinges on your tremendous engraving chops!  (No pressure.......)  :icon_jokercolor:

Damn, that's going to look good! I like the black with a black pickguard. The engraving just accents everything. :icon_thumright:

That's shaping up very nicely - the combination of the engraved parts and the plain black works really well.

I'm guessing the name isn't actually meant to be pronounced 'Slackbird'. Or am I missing something?

That's going to be a really great tele!  Looking forward to seeing the results.

Thanks to all for the kind words! I'm kinda hoping that the plain black will provide the proper background to show off the engraving, without looking too busy or gaudy.

Sprechen sie deutsch, mein Herr? Not many non-German speakers recognize an eszette. I use it as a "B", as in "Blackbird", because it's true meaning, as a double "S", is lost on most. And being my initials are S.S., it's a way to sort of code my initials into the title. Did the same thing with my "Bluescaster" Strat:

Anyone recognize the coding in Tele's the serial number?  :icon_scratch:
And, just as an aside, I just got an e-mail from Becky Lawrence saying that my pickups are shipping!  :turtle:

That is going to be one seriously cool tele  :headbang:
Can't wait to see Dougs engraving and this girl put together...
:rock-on:

Not sure where to find the modified pattern. Sounds interesting, though.
I changed the link in the original post, guess I wasn't all that clear about it, sorry.  :tard:

That bridge is soooooo cool.  :occasion14:
Thanks Bro, I was thinking that the previous rendition was a little too crowded compared to the control plate. Now the composition should balance better(?).
