after years of searching, testing, getting agrivated, and having no money (haha), I finally pulled it together to by myself THE amp for me. I always wanted superb versatility, and this amp gave it all to me. it's got 6 channels; 2 high gain, crunch, clean, 1 'direct in poweramp' and 1 'direct in poweramp with tone controls controling the poweramp and not the preamp'. kind of a novelty I believe. it has 2 master volumes, 2 master presence, per channel reverb, kind-off split EQ (difficult to explain in english how I think it works...), and per channel 7 tone voice options (like high power/low power, high gain/lowgain, modern/vintage, bright switches, mid edge, contour, etc etc).
oh, and it also has switchable speakercabinet-outputs!
I'm talking about:
the ENGL Special Edition EL34!!!!! Boy, this amp ROCKS> its got everything I need. from sparkly squeecky fender clean to bonecrushing 'jon schaffer' heavy metal.
the cab I have, is something one of a kind too. I always wanted a bogner 412 v30 cabinet, because that cab was IT for me. I always loved that cab, but this one is cheaper (for me anyway) and better sounding. strange combination I know, but man....
its a Kool&Elfring 412 v30 XXL speakercab. its one of the largest, meanest cabs I've ever come across. for jazz, blues, metal, rock, funk, it delivers the goods as good as you put it in. the combination of my guitars, the engl and this cab are so goddamn precise. every mistake gets blown up and every brilliant move will be thrown around your ears. As if an angel peas in your ear. K&E is a dutch brand, just new. they use 18mm 13 ply superclass grade birch ply for the casing AND the back, I believe multi aswell for the baffles. damn, this cab sounds tight. almost as tight as the tightest cab in the business, the Diezel frontloaded supersized 412 v30. but this one doesnt sound as harsh, it sounds more musical, muscular, powerfull, accentuated...
dont be fooled, this combination is not for the faint hearted. literally! the entire setup is almost as heavy as I am! 75 kilo's. but you 'feel' it, in your bones, your stomach...
and now: pictures!
part of the test setup
the final stack!
Just the cab with an Engl z12, for comparison, ha ha ha
All her LED's
Just for fun, with my gibson LP customs. it was late, hence the bad pic, but it gives a nice idea about my gear and the amp.
I have a custombuild amp aswell, but that thing is just 15w, and not suited to my needs anymore. By the way, the powersoak doesnt 'soak' power at all. it gives me just another voicing, but it still BURNS.
I hope you like the eye candy :icon_jokercolor:
