Need your opinion on getting CDs made

So if you've ever looked at any of the songs I've put up, they're on my SoundCloud account that is named "Behold The Underdogs". It was a metalcore project that me and my friend did in high school, and i never changed it.

We've recently revived the project, but with a slight genre shift. This time around, it's very New Wave inspired. Not metal at all.
We're working on an EP, (i hope this one doesn't fall through, like my past projects have..) and we've recorded one song so far. We're pretty proud of it, and we're considering having CDs made for the ep when it's all done.
Is it a waste of time, or should we go for it?
I haven't looked around much, but from what i can tell, it would be around $400 CDN to have 100 made up.
When you compare that to something like Distro Kid, I'm not sure if we should waste our money on physical copies.
Thoughts?

It all depends on your audience and what your goals are.  I will say that we make more money selling CDs at shows than any number of streaming downloads that we get (and we get a lot).

BTW - keep tabs on CD west.  We once got a deal from them where we got 500 CDs for the price of 300.  Worked out to be about $1 per CD.

Okay, thanks. I did the math, and it would generate quite the profit, especially compared to streaming, and digital downloads. The shows we'd be playing are usually pretty small, but packed. Asuming people like us, we'd sell them pretty quick.

As long as you are able to sell them is the key. I've known folks even before the days of streaming left with a lot. In those days the biggest cost though was recording them because you needed studio time.

When you say New Wave inspired, just wondering to what you refer. That reminds me of the new wave that occurred post punk in the late 70s/early 80s. Then there was the NWOBHM, new wave of British Heavy Metal is there another new wave ?

The former I would say.

Well I could assume that too, but wondered what Timmsie means.
