The Goncalo or Rosewood necks look great with that top but they're not going to be much like maple ... wasn't that what you wanted?
My Strat is canary on canary and the Tele I'm currently building (still waiting for some parts) is ebony on padouk (the padouk looks pretty good with trans brown too). I went for both these neck woods to get me in the ballpark of the typical maple neck. YMMV
Initially yes, but I absolutely love the feel of the rosewood neck on my PRS and I already have 3 maple necked strats so a bit of variation could be good

I was going to suggest an all rosewood, but I didn't. GO WITH IT! You will NOT regret it. Rosewood is the cats meow for me. It's readily available, but damn does it feel and sound good.
Direct mount HH. Im still deciding what to put in it, I have a Seymour Duncan JB & Jazz, a Dimarzio PAF Pro/Air Norton and a SUHR SSV+/DSV+ lying around. I may invest in some Bare Knuckles for this though.
depends on what you're going for. i think an Air Norton in the bridge and PAF Pro in the neck (the opposite of what most people would go for, I imagine) would sound great.

Hmm. I always thought the Air Norton was strictly a neck pickup but reading the Dimarzio website apparently it was designed for the bridge and just by happenchance it works great in the neck too. I think I might try that!

it's most well known as a neck pickup. but it makes a great medium-output bridge pickup. Might be a little fat in a guitar like that, but it depends on what you're going for too. I like a bright neck pickup and a fatter bridge pickup - i usually find the change in midrange presence from bridge to neck too extreme for me and this combination makes it a bit more managable.
