Sorry for all the confusion, There is a black wire and a white wire wrapped in a white wire and then you got the red wire. I have to
solder the black and white wire onto the 6-way 4 pole switch because the switch does NOT have solderless connectors so it does not go along with EMG's solderless system - I was wondering wether to wire the black and white wires that are in the white wire together or seperate

That was the_Dan's quote, not mine.

What do you mean by "a white wire wrapped in a white wire?"
Have you checked EMG's instructions for an explanation of the leads?

I got it to work. Thank you so much for you help.!!!! I appreciate it a lot.It sounds awesome!! I meant there is a white casing with a hot wire in it, and then there is a ground wire in it. I had to ground to both volume and tone pots though. Thanks!!

with 3 (not common anymore) there is a hot, ground and a center tap.

That's not a center tap, it's the connection between two coils that are internally wired in series.
A center tap is a tap somewhere in the winding of an inductor. (The term is usually applied to transformers, but also applies to any coil, such as a guitar pickup.) In the case of a guitar pickup, a center tap allows you to select a lower impedance wind than the full coil. It's not a common feature, at least not with any mass-produced pickups.

same pricipal but i guess i could have called it a serial link. seems you cant say anything about that feature without someone harrassing you over nomenclature. is it a center tap? no that's a term for transformers,  is it a coil tap? no it doesn't tape the coil it taps the pickup between the coils, is it a coil split,? what's it splitting? so how annoying that is?

so ok it is the serial link or atleast a wire attached to th eserial link and was common on old dimarzio pickups and it is used to tap the pickup between the coils. not that it is important to the conversation. was wondering if the emg's had such a thing because i was confused about the op's statment.

Accuracy is important if you expect to be understood.

i know that but there isnt a unified term for what i was talking about. and i dont feal like giving a lengthy explaination everytime i talk about humbucking pickups yet it is perfectly acceptable to call it a coil tap in the rare instance i am talking about a multi tap single coil.

i have seen this little grey area corrected on here many times but noone ever actually offering up a real name for it. and no one on here would accuse me of not knowing what i am talking about. i may not be an engineer and dont mean that in a cocky way but it's not like im a newb in need of guidance. i guess it is just my pet peave when people correct people telling them what is wrong and never saying what is right.
