i will be ordering a 7 string maple/maple neck with frets on and nut, and a bass wood body "unfinished" as well,,,,
i would like to do everything by my self  :hello2: ,and i took all the parts that i have to buy in consideration (pick ups , tuners , bridge and such)

but sense this is my first guitar project i think i might be missing some basic stuff that i have to get if you could point to all the things that i have to get in the making of this guitar it would be great  :redflag:

and also what material will i need for the paint section ,what brands of finishing coats and what should i do with the maple neck to make it perfect  ??? ???

oh and what does the "scale" mean in the custom guitar making section ?? 28-5/8 and 25 inch ???

The list of parts you need varies by guitar and what you already have.

If you have to ask what you need for finishing, you may want to start now with the research. The 'net is chock full of data on the subject from literally thousands of sources. I'd humbly suggest you don't take on a Warmoth as your first finishing project unless you have a LOT of time/money to burn. It's not a trivial task to get good results even if you know what you're doing. After you've done some research and have more specific questions, there are a number of people here who do that sort of thing and can save you a lot of heartache. Better still, let Warmoth finish it. For what they charge and the quality of results you get, it's a no-brainer.

Scale length describes the distance between the nut and the bridge. Common lengths are the 25.5", commonly used by Fender and the like, and 24/75", commonly used by Gibson and the like. PRS and a few others use a 25", but they're unique to those builders. 28.625" is a "baritone" length, usually used on guitars you're going to tune down some amount.

Read, read, read, read.

There's an awful lot of great information that you'll pick up just reading the posts and projects on this forum.  DONT spend your money first, and read later.  WAY too easy to make poor decisions that way.

I'm new here myself, waiting for the boxes to show up.  I know I'm going to have some head slapping moments that might have been prevented by just getting more knowledge.

For maple/maple - TruOil varnish is both good protection, and it's relatively easy.  It's also a very comfy finish for the neck back.  If you're good with spray painting and/or if you have access to a paintshop & airbrush, there's lots of options open to you for clear finishes.

On the body, you'd want to do a solid color with a hard, clear finish on top of that: basswood is a softer wood, more susceptible to dents & dings, so a more protective finish is strongly encouraged.

As above, there's a megaton of information on this forum.

just an another question ,what do you recommend for a 7 string guitar nut width >>> 2" or 1 7/8 "<<

This one's personal.  No two hands are the same size.  Go play a few commercial examples.  Measure 'em.  Get to know what you like before you press the 'order' button.

my tuner holes on the neck are 9.92 mm ,well a tuner that needs a 10mm hole fit in to it ?? i am concerned about that part before i order the tuners

Tuner holes are supposed to be tight, but there's a limit. You may want to invest in a reamer. They allow you to make small adjustments to hole diameter. Stewart MacDonald sells a couple...

They're pretty pricey, but they're designed for musical instrument work. The taper is very gradual. You can get them a lot cheaper, but the taper is usually pretty dramatic and so is unsuitable for such work. If you don't plan on doing a lot of tuner installations, you're probably further ahead to take it somewhere and have it done.

thx alot i got the tuner proplem fixed :)
but guys does any body know where can i buy an indiviual tuner on its own ,cuz all that i have found are only 6

like these ones, planet waves gold tuners

Seems like I read somewhere that if you bought a pack of 6 and still have your receipt, contact them and they'll send you a seventh for free. Other than that, I've not seen them in single part quantities since Warmoth stopped selling them.

Maybe you could contact Warmoth directly by phone and see whether they happen to have one or two lying around still.
