Neck Stick Clearance

See pics below.  Do you guys think this is going to be a problem after painting?  I obviously don't want the paint to crack as I remove the stick and I'm a little nervous about this setup I have:

I'm no expert, but I'd say not to have the stick touch anywhere on the sides of the neck pocket. And after the finish is complete you could lightly sand around the edges to remove any finish build up, so that the neck fits snugly.... :dontknow:

Yeah, I guess it was pretty obvious something needed to be done about it.  Just got done sanding the edge of the stick and now no more touching!  :hello2:
