Neck Finish?

Warmoth makes money selling Nitro too.  Some Gibsons are still Nitro (okay bad example).  Nitro does wear different than Poly, some may say more desireably than Poly.

when I replaced my Pre CBS Star with the 2003 I have today, one of the things I noticed is I absolutely love the 2003 neck, very easy to play all night long, I figured it was because it had a full finish on it, I never even considered it was the type of finish, now 7 years later I have the same little bumps here and there on the back . Some are caused by damage others are from wear, what they are to me is like fret markers, I know where I am am that neck by knowing how it feels without having to pick a note.
So I am at a loss to decide if Nitro is  sticky and Poly is smooth, if one wears less and/or if that is good, and if raw would improve the beast. I do know the day I finally turned around backward and dented the neck of my PRS on a drum set, I finally felt relaxed with the guitar, I had a flaw on it and it was no longer pristine, so it was no longer a 3600 dollar guitar and I could just treat it like the rest of my guitars.
Saying all that, I think owning a lot of different necks, and different finishes that I think some guys spend way to much time analyzing the different finishes and not enough time playing.
If you do not like it, sell it and get another one you like. I play them all
Play around 3 or 4 gigs of 4 hours or more, you will notice which guitars you do not play and which ones you do, and things that seem trivial at home, are real issues on stage and issues at home seam to be minor on stage.
