What up fellow Musicians!!!! First post and first build here. I was hoping for a little input from you guys. I will (hopefully) be purchasing this Butterscotch Blonde SS P-Bass (probably going with old school tort p-guard) and was wondering what you guys (gals?) think would compliment it well in the neck/fingerboard department?? I was really wanting a Canary/Canary, but I don't think that would work. With this being a little on the subdued side I started to think of going with Pearl blocks and some form of Binding on whatever I end up with.

So what do you think??

Thanks for the input and
Be Well
Shawn

Also, looking at exotics!!! Don't want a finished neck and if yr gonna do something you might as well go all out....

Rosewood/Ebony.
Pau Ferro?

If you are willing to walk on the wild side, Wenge or Bloodwood.

Not that you want to do this, but just to give you an idea what it looks like, I happen to have a Fender 50th Anniversary P in BB with a vintage tint maple neck (note that Warmoth's vintage tint is a bit oranger than Fender's):

Canary or roasted maple would be a bit darker than that.

Personally I wouldn't get too fancy, because to me BB is a vintage, stripped down, early Fender color. YMMV.

I am waiting for an all Bubinga neck to match with a white strat. body. Been looking around at pics on line and found a couple examples....both bases but it looks good. Just a thought.

Thanks for the input. Hmm, maybe Wenge with Bubinga FB or the all Bubinga sounds nice.

Then part of me wants to not tie myself down to just what is in the showcase. Started looking at black Korina with that darkish stain. Those look hot, like really Hot.

Man this is not easy!!

Since this is your very first DIY build/assembly and if you have no one to expertly guide you along hands on start with a basic Warmoth low dollar neck and body. Use the savings to purchase quality pickups and quality Fender hardware. The latter means use no Squire or MIM hardware.
Another route is to purchase a dreamer instrument off eBay and see if you can straighten their mess out.
