Also the pots & pickups and most important the setup. Of all the guitars I have/had four were as close to perfect as they could be when they came out of their case, one was a Warmoth. The other three were set neck guitars.
The setup is the #1 factor for me, have a guitar that feels great to your hands and you can tailor the tone with the height of the pickups, the amp, cabs & pedals. Since I don't tour and I'm not in a hurry I give each guitar at least a year to get accustomed to the instrument's feel & tone by playing with different setups. After I get to know a guitar I decide if I need to change something. I changed a neck & pickups in my first Warmoth, a switch and a pickup in my second, I'll shave the neck at some point in my third and I got it right in the last one.
